EAA 1093 is proud to offer support to those interested in aviation, whether they are already heavily involved or just getting started in the field. One way we do so is by providing scholarships to those seeking certifications in aviation including private pilot, instrument pilot or mechanic ratings.
Aviation is a fun and engaging industry, but it requires hard work and dedication. Those seeking a scholarship from EAA 1093 must understand the responsibility and commitment that they are undertaking prior to applying.
One of the biggest commitments in pursuing a pilot certificate is time. In addition to flight lessons, a ground school is required, either in person or online. Studying between flight and ground lessons is also necessary. The weekly time commitment for learning to fly is typically 5 -10 hours per week.
For applicants wishing to pursue an aviation mechanic certification a time commitment of 10-20 hours per week for classes, labs, and studying should be expected, depending on the method of training.
Consideration should also be given to the full cost of training. While EAA 1093 scholarships are meant to provide some assistance, it will not cover the full cost of training and should not be depended on as a sole source of finances.
If you are willing to dedicate the time and effort to pursue your pilot or mechanic license, and you meet and accept the following below requirements, fill out an online application here.
· Applicants shall be EAA 1093 members 15 years of age or older.
· Applicants shall have a nomination from a current EAA 1093 member.
· Applicants seeking a pilot’s license shall have received at least 3 hours of flight instruction and hold at least a class 3 medical prior to application.
· Scholarship money shall be paid directly to the instructor or institution of instruction rather than the recipient.
